Toblerone is set to revert to its original shape and get bigger – but it’s going to get more expensive too

Poundland is now set to drop the chocolate bar as it will weigh £200g and cost £3

ON the surface it seems like good news - the Toblerone we know and love is returning.

In 2016 there was a public outcry after product makers Mondelez International increased the gap between the peaks to reduce the weight of its 170g bars.

A petition was set up with furious choccie fans taking to Facebook to voice their displeasure.

But now it has been announced the gap will return to its current 150g bar (formally 170g) and it will go up in size to 200g.

Best of all its distinctive peaks will return - but it comes at a cost.

According to the Guardian, the new 200g bar's recommended retail price is £3.09 - meaning although its weight is going up by 33 percent, its overall cost has increased by 200 percent.

The Guardian's source described it as a "backdoor price hike on shoppers”.

And The Grocer said the change in price means that Poundland will no longer stock the bars - even though it is the store's most popular product.

A Mondelez spokesman told the Guardian: “We’re always reviewing our range to make sure we provide great quality Swiss chocolate in formats we know our fans love.

"The 150g Toblerone is no longer being manufactured and therefore availability of the bar depends on how much stock an individual retailer is carrying. But 100g and 360g size bars will still be available.”

Speaking of Toblerones have you heard of the Toblerone Tunnel - it's the 'thigh gap' that Insta fans are raving about.

And you can now buy HobNob Thins - and they contain a third of the calories.

Maltesers buttons are a thing and they are coming to the UK very soon
