From when it airs, to what the episode’s all about, here’s everything you need to know about Dispatches: Secrets of Coca-Cola…

What is Dispatches: Secrets of Coca-Cola all about?

Channel 4’s latest investigation is all about the impending sugar tax regulations.

It looks at how multinational beverage corporation Coca-Cola has dealt with the incoming legislation.

In response to the new laws, Dispatches has revealed that a Coke executive has boasted that there is already “a campaign is underway to build a case against the tax”.

The documentary accuses Coca-Cola bosses of holding private meetings with influential civil servant Sir Jeremy Heywood and Tory Treasury Secretary David Gauke in attempt to repeal the tax.

If the sugar tax is passed successfully, there is expected to be a 24p price hike on a litre bottle of Coke by the end of 2018.

What are The Coke Files?

The show also draws on The Coke Files, which is information taken from leaked Coca-Cola e-mails.

In the private correspondence, there is evidence of communication between the corporation, academics and scientists.

After reading these messages, Dispatches have questioned whether or not global companies are going to respect Britain’s sugar tax.
