Bournemouth make £12m bid for Sheffield United starlet as Eddie Howe looks for Championship talent

EDDIE HOWE has made a £12million move for Sheffield United whizkid David Brooks.

The Bournemouth boss has lodged a bid to make the 20-year-old forward a Premier League player.

And he will give the Wales Under-21 international a chance in the top flight like he did with England midfielder Lewis Cook.

Howe also wants to finally land Brentford centre-back Chris Mepham.

He failed with an attempt to land the defender in January but has returned with an improved offer.

Howe has targeted the 20-year-old as he reckons the youngster has the potential to make the step up immediately after impressing in the Championship.

The Cherries’ £18m bid for Colombia midfielder Jefferson Lerma has been rejected by Spanish side Levante.

Howe is weighing up another move for the player who is at the World Cup with his country.

But hopes of landing Kieran Tierney from Celtic are fading after the Scotland full-back was targeted earlier in the window.
