KATIE'S HOPE

Katie Price reveals she is ‘talking about’ donating one of her lungs to her terminally ill mum – as she starts training to be a paramedic

KATIE Price has revealed that she is “talking about” donating one of her lungs to her terminally ill mum Amy.

Earlier this month Katie, 39, told fans her mum was suffering from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis – a lung condition with no known cure, but now she is prepared to do what it takes to give Amy, 64, a fighting chance after being told she has three to five years left to live.

During her Stevenage show she said: “We're talking about me giving her one of my lungs.”

Unfortunately Katie doesn’t hold much hope for a transplant working, adding: “But I’m not sure it will save her.”

It looks like her recent heartbreak has made her reassess her career path, as the former glamour model and presenter also hinted that she’ll be turning her back on fame as she’s started training to become a paramedic.

She told the audience: “I'm training to be a paramedic - I've started the course and I'm 5 years on from being qualified.

“I like helping people.

“I was doing nursing before I got into modelling.”

It’s been a painful four weeks for Katie who just days before revealing her mum’s diagnosis discovered that her husband Kieran Hayler had been having a year-long affair with the nanny.

As Katie’s personal life looks uncertain, her mum revealed she wanted to see her daughter settled before anything happened to her.

Appearing on Loose Women she said: “I’m not going to peg off until she’s settled.

“I think it’s about time you got yourself together properly and took life more seriously and be settled.”

And discussing her condition she said: “It’s like scarring of the lungs and it actually stops you breathing.

“It’s progressive so it goes up your lungs and in the end you won’t be able to breath.”

At the time Katie said the news hadn’t sunk in, telling the Loose Women: “No, no it hasn’t as she’s so fit and healthy. I don’t think it has hit me yet.”

Since then Katie has revealed she has started taking anti-anxiety medication to deal with the tough time.

Speaking of her medication, she said: "I am on it, it's for anxiety. I'm not scared to admit it. If you've got a headache you go to the doctor and you get a tablet.

"I get anxiety now so I take it."
