Chelsea transfer news: Bournemouth closing in on permanent signing of Nathan Ake for over £20million
The 22-year-old Dutch international spent the first half of last season on loan with the Cherries, before being recalled by the Blues
BOURNEMOUTH are closing in on the permanent signing of Chelsea star Nathan Ake.
The 22-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan with the Cherries before being recalled in January.
Boss Eddie Howe later launched an £18m bid for the Dutch defender that month, which was instantly rejected.
But Bournemouth are now set to snap-up the ex-Watford ace with a £20m-plus offer after missing out on Chelsea legend John Terry.
He is expected to sign a deal with the South Coast club when he returns from his holiday in July.
It is understood a number of other clubs are interested in the youngster, but the Cherries are favourites to land him.
A source said: “It should be done when the player gets back from his holiday next month.

“Others clubs have been taking a look at him, but Bournemouth look to be in pole position at present.”
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is already looking at defensive alternatives.
The Italian is believed to be happy to offload Ake as he tries to bring in 25-year-old Virgil van Dijk from Southampton.
The Blues are also closing in on a £100m double raid on Italian champions Juventus with Leonardo Bonucci, 30, and Alex Sandro, 26, sought.
The Old Lady revealed earlier this week they are willing to listen to bids for the pair if the right offer comes in.
Conte will also seal a £35m swoop for Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko next week.
The 22-year-old will jet in for a medical, leaving Nemanja Matic to link up with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.
Terry left Chelsea at the end of last season after 19 years and is considering a £60,000-a-week deal from Aston Villa.
Ake joined the Blues from Dutch side Feyenoord in 2011 aged 16 and has gone on to make 17 appearances.
