SOUTHAMPTON have slapped a £40million fee on Sadio Mane.

Liverpool are stepping up their pursuit of the Senegal star and are determined to add him to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

But Mane’s club are digging their heels in over their valuation of the 24-year-old.

Manchester United went for the Saints forward last season to add pace to Louis van Gaal’s attack – but a move never materialised.

Now Klopp is ready to swoop if a fee can be agreed and personal terms thrashed out.

Mane will demand £125,000-a-week wages in a deal to take him from the south coast to one of the Premier League’s big boys.
