Dramatic photos show the vehicle wedged in a family home and a bashed up black Range Rover, with dozens of firefighters and medics at the scene in Keresley Road.

The Coventry Telegraph reports that it is believed one person was in the crash home at the time, and a family who lived there were away for the weekend.

Only a "handful of people" were on the National Express bus at the time according to police.

Large cracks could be seen in the front and side of the house and there have been fears from structural engineers that it could collapse if the bus is not removed correctly, according to the Coventry Telegraph.

One eye-witness Kylie Jones told the website: "It was just like a big, massive bang. It sounded like a bomb."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "There were initially suggestions the bus driver, 44, was trapped but he just had a leg injury and was discharged.

“A passenger on the back seat of the bus in his 20s had a leg injury and was discharged.

“Two people in a car that collided with the bus were also discharged at the scene.”

National Express Coventry said staff were "co-operating closely with the authorities in their investigations into this incident".

Four people were hurt in the crash including the 32-year-old bus driver who at first was thought to have been trapped - but this was not the case
