REPLI-KATE

Kate Middleton will have her own coronation ceremony when she becomes Queen Consort… but it won’t be as grand as William’s

WHEN Prince William becomes king, he will have a huge coronation ceremony in honour of the occasion.

And Kate Middleton will also have a ceremony of her own, despite her not officially becoming the Queen of England.

Once Prince William takes the throne and becomes the King of England, Kate will then be known as the Queen Consort.

According to the Royal website, the Duchess of Cambridge, 36, will be crowned in a slightly less grand ceremony.

The website says: “Unless decided otherwise, a Queen Consort is crowned with the King, in a similar but simpler ceremony.”

While males are officially the consort, they may be referred to as Prince, which is why Prince Phillip isn’t known as the King Consort.

When Prince Charles ascends the throne, Kate Middleton will move up the line of succession to become the Princess of Wales - the title last held by her husband’s mum, Princess Diana.

Meanwhile Wills will likely inherit his dad’s title to become Prince of Wales.

If she wishes, Kate can use the name as a sweet tribute to the mother-in-law that she never got to meet.

Currently Charles is the Prince of Wales, and technically Camilla Parker Bowles holds the Princess title, but she doesn’t use it due to the association it has to Princess Diana, who died in 1997.

Instead, Camilla uses the Duchess of Cornwall title, which is female version of Charles’ highest-ranking subsidiary title.

Camilla Parker Bowles, who is in line to the throne before Kate, will technically become the Queen Consort also, but it has been said she will adopt the style of Princess Consort.

THE ROYAL LINE OF SUCCESSION

  2. The Duke of Cambridge (Prince William)
  3. Prince George of Cambridge

Traditionally the Prince of Wales title is handed to the heir to the throne, and Charles is the 21st person to hold it.

Diana became the Princess of Wales after she married Charles in 1981.

It is unlikely that Prince Harry will receive a new title after the death of his grandma, as he is a lot further down the line of succession.

He is currently behind Prince William’s kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
