Manchester United keeper goalkeeper David De Gea faces calls to be left out of Spain’s squad for Euro 2016

Old Trafford stopper may not take part in this summer's European Championships in France and could head home

DAVID DE GEA faces calls to be sent home from Spain's squad for the 2016 European Championships, after being caught up in a sex scandal.

The Manchester United stopper, 25, was due to be his nation's No1 for the tournament after dethroning Iker Casillas as Spain's main man between the sticks.

However, the Premier League man may no longer be available for his country's tournament curtain-raiser against the Czech Republic on Monday.

Goalkeeper De Gea has been named by a protected witness in court documents which claim he contracted a prostitute against her will.

He is set to give a press conference later on Friday evening.

De Gea earlier learnt Real Madrid would NOT be pursuing him this summer, putting to bed one of the longest running and most controversial transfer sagas in recent years.

The Spaniard has been an integral cog in the Manchester United machine post-Sir Alex Ferguson and the news of him remaining at Old Trafford - alongside new boss Jose Mourinho - is a major boost for the Red Devils faithful.

De Gea made 34 Premier League appearances last term as well as helping United lift the FA Cup last month.
