Cloudy and damp weather across southern and western England along with some patchy rain

Met Office forecaster Marco Petagna said: "It's going to get colder overnight into Sunday, with temperatures diving below freezing to about -3C.

"Throughout the day on Sunday, we're going to see an East-West split.

"The East is going to see the bulk of the sunshine, while in the West it's going to be cloudy with quite a lot of rain."

Today is predicted to be quite cloudy in the south with some rain and drier in the north and east.

But winds will still whip across northeast Scotland making for a cold day.

The cold snap will continue into Monday, with overnight temperatures barely above freezing.

A Met Office spokesman said: "As we go into next week it's looking relatively unsettled.

"Rain will continue to fall as snow on higher ground and at the moment it's difficult to tell how far south that might go.

"For next week we are looking at patches of bright sunshine but also patches of unsettled wintry rain."
