UK weather to leave Brits shivering in temperatures colder than Moscow with snow on the way TONIGHT
This evening could see temperatures falling to -2C in areas such as Manchester and remaining below 0C in the north of England
BRITAIN will be colder than Moscow tonight as a big freeze caused by bitter Arctic winds sends temperatures plummeting.
Snow will blanket parts of Scotland as the mercury nudges a freezing -3C overnight, while gale force winds and wintry showers will leave Brits shivering elsewhere.
Experts have warned of widespread frost as the blast swept in last night and temperatures will plunge to -4C in some northern regions.
But in the Russian capital, the mercury is hovering above zero.
The cold snap will continue over the weekend, with more snow predicted to fall in Scotland on Sunday - coupled with bitter 57mph winds.
Wales, Northern Ireland and the South will not be hit by snow but temperatures will drop into single figures overnight.
Met Office forecaster Marco Petagna said: "It's going to get colder overnight into Sunday, with temperatures diving below freezing to about -3C.
"Throughout the day on Sunday, we're going to see an East-West split.
"The East is going to see the bulk of the sunshine, while in the West it's going to be cloudy with quite a lot of rain."
Today is predicted to be quite cloudy in the south with some rain and drier in the north and east.
But winds will still whip across northeast Scotland making for a cold day.
The cold snap will continue into Monday, with overnight temperatures barely above freezing.
A Met Office spokesman said: "As we go into next week it's looking relatively unsettled.
"Rain will continue to fall as snow on higher ground and at the moment it's difficult to tell how far south that might go.
"For next week we are looking at patches of bright sunshine but also patches of unsettled wintry rain."
