JOSH MURPHY is set to become Cardiff's first signing since they won promotion back to the Premier League, with a medical reportedly taking place on Monday.

The former England Under-20 winger will join Neil Warnock's side from Norwich for £10million and go straight into the Bluebirds' squad for the upcoming campaign.

Murphy, 23, is the twin brother of Newcastle's Jacob, who left Norwich for Tyneside 12 months ago.

And now brother Josh is set to join him in the Premier League with Cardiff, according to the Telegraph.

He made 100 appearances for Norwich in all competitions, with loan spells at Wigan and MK Dons sandwiched into his six-year stint with the Canaries.

Cardiff won promotion back to the Premier League after four years away by finishing second in the Championship in 2017-18, pipping Fulham to automatic promotion on the final day of the season.

The last time they reached the Premier League, in 2013-14, they finished bottom of the table, six points from safety despite beating eventual champions Manchester City 3-2 in their opening home game.

This time around manager Warnock is targeting a list of high-quality reinforcements, including Murphy, to ensure their second attempt at Premier League football lasts longer than a single term.

Rangers midfielder Josh Windass has been linked with a £3m switch to the Welsh capital, one of many talents north of the border Warnock is looking at.

He told talkSPORT: "I have looked at two or three players in Scotland.

"We can't start bringing stars in from all over the show. We have to bring in five or six players that will fit into the squad.

"They have to be quality players and I have quite a number of options. I am looking at two or three players for every position.

"The money people are talking about is crazy. I value someone at £5m but the club want £12-15m. It is silly money."
