I’m starting think my boyfriend’s ex isn’t his ex but still his wife after I asked why he still wears a wedding ring
DEAR DEIDRE: ON Facebook I saw that the man I have been going out with for three months is still wearing his wedding ring . . . and saying he is married.
We get on really well. I thought at last I had found my special person and that there would be a future for us together.
He is 37, I am 28.
I spoke to him about the ring I saw and he said he wore it for his kids’ sake. He has two boys.
Now he’s saying that there have been problems with his ex’s family and that we should cool things a bit as a result.
I am starting to wonder whether perhaps he is still married and his ex is not an ex at all.
It is playing on my mind constantly.
DEIDRE SAYS: Try to find a quiet time, sit him down and ask him to be totally honest with you about his past and his current situation. He should be able to show you some sort of proof.
If he cannot or will not do this, then he is hiding something from you.
Such dishonesty is likely to cause trouble and distress for you in the future so you may be wise to back away now.
Don’t simply give him the benefit of the doubt.
