Stoke sign Nigeria international Etebo Oghenekaro for £6.3million on a five-year contract

Midfielder joins the bet365 Stadium side from Portuguese side Feirense, who finished 16th in the Primeira Liga last term

STOKE have signed Nigeria international Oghenekaro Peter Etebo for £6.3million on a five-year contract.

The midfielder, 22, joins the Potters from Feirense, who finished 16th in Portgual's Primeira Liga last term.

Etebo also spent six months on loan at La Liga side Las Palmas last season.

On the signing, new Stoke boss Gary Rowett said: “We’re really excited to have got the deal over the line for Etebo.

"I’m looking forward to seeing him in a Stoke City shirt as I’m sure our supporters are too.

“Etebo is a very mobile, energetic midfielder and he’s a great age.

"He has played in the top divisions in Portugal and Spain and, of course, he’s heading into the World Cup with Nigeria which will be an amazing experience for him.”

The 14-cap international - who played in the 2-1 defeat at the hands of England earlier this month - spent two seasons in Portugal.

Prior to that, the 22-year-old kicked-off his career at Nigerian side Warri Wolves - where he playing for two seasons.

Following 45 league appearances for Feirense, Etebo played 12 times in La Liga for Las Palmas last season - impressing enough to sign for now-Championship side Stoke.
