SHOCKING images show how a decade of boozing changed a mum's face before she plunged a knife into her lover's back in a drunken rage.

In 2006 Dawn Walker looked like any other glammed up party-lover as she sat in a taxi, dressed in her flowery play suit with her blonde hair neatly combed and clutching two bottles of beer ahead of a Saturday night out.

Fast forward ten years, the blonde haired former cleaner looked a shadow of her former self as she posed for a police mugshot sporting a black eye, greasy matted hair and puffy face after she was arrested for drunkenly stabbing her boyfriend in the back following a cricket club party.

Detectives who investigated the near-fatal knifing discovered over the preceding years Walker had racked up a string of convictions for drunken assaults on police - including four attacks upon officers in 2016 alone.

The mother-of-three was spared prison again and again after she insisted she was striving to be a ''good role model'' to her children.

Walker was arrested in November after getting drunk at a bonfire night party at her local cricket club then later knifed Damien Taylor having followed him to another man's flat.

The victim was found lying on his front in a pool of blood with Walker cradling his head in her hands and saying "what happened?".

Mr Taylor was initially feared by one eye witness to have succumbed to his injuries but suddenly made a "gasp for breath" and later won his battle for life after being rushed to hospital.

Walker, now 35, from Bacup, Lancs, is now starting a five years and seven months behind bars after she was convicted of wounding with intent following a trial.

Despite her record of violence she insisted she was - when sober - a ''nice, pleasant individual who doesn't present as aggressive or hostile.''

Burnley Crown Court was told Walker, has a criminal record of 17 offences going back 16 years, with 10 previous offences of police assault.

Six occurred in 2000 and there were two incidents in April 2016 and then one from June of that year. There were further convictions for being drunk and disorderly, one for battery, one for common assault and failing to provide a specimen of breath.

Last year Walker sank her teeth into one policeman's face as she had to be restrained on her car bonnet by several officers.

In a different incident she tried to bite and headbutt an officer's face as he was quizzed for crashing her Renault Megane in a drunken stupor.

In previous incidents she kicked an officer in the chest and booted another in the shin.

She later claimed she would drink three bottles of wine a day at the weekend as her children had become ''more independent'' but was able to ''keep it together'' from Monday to Friday and stay sober to look after the youngsters.

The latest offence took place last November 5 after Walker had been out drinking with Mr Taylor at the cricket club before being invited back to the flat of Albert White in Bacup.

Walker denied the charge claiming Taylor was stabbed by an unidentified deliveryman who entered the flat uninvited. Taylor declined to help police with their investigation and is thought to be standing by his girlfriend.

In mitigation Walker's lawyer Robert Elias said his client had now lost custody of her three children and added: ''She is stuck in a vicious circle of depression and alcohol use.

"This offence was against her partner and appears to be unprovoked and in drink. The knife was not taken to the scene and this was an impulsive action caused by anger. Alcohol which is the key indicator of her loss of control - she has a short fuse.

"When sober she presents as a nice, pleasant individual and doesn't present as aggressive or hostile. The court will be concerned and worried about her drinking and she herself is concerned and worried about her fall from grace."
