IT ASDA BE A JOKE

Mums slam Asda as ‘sexist’ for selling children’s jumper saying ‘Boys Will Be Boys’

The retailer said it wanted to make "clothing people love" and did not want to offend anyone

AN Asda jumper has caused social media outrage after it was branded “sexist” for having the slogan “Boys Will Be Boys” on it.

One mother blasted the retailer after seeing the £4 sweatshirt at her local branch.

She said it left her “quite literally gobsmacked and raging” and prompted her to write to Asda's head office.

Her outrage has been mirrored by other mums after she uploaded a photo of the top to Facebook, writing: “This is so damaging and we cannot possibly still be spouting this nonsense to our children”.

Lorri Oxton said: “More than sexist, it’s a potentially dangerous mindset for both men and women.

“Not what our kids should be taught as acceptable or our youngsters.

“Well done debs for catching this, I'm quite disgusted!”

Fran Moldaschi also wrote a letter to Asda HQ.

She said: “This phrase is so harmful to our children - I’m horrified that Asda is willing to perpetuate this outdated platitude.”

Asda has previously been criticised for selling inappropriate clothing, including padded bras for girls as young as nine.

The chain also sold undies for seven-year-old girls promoting the popular Disney film High School Musical with the words "Dive In" written on the front.

An Asda spokesman said: “Our aim is to make clothing people love, never to offend."
